Summer moment - mixed media on kraft

Hello!
I'm saying farewell to August with another summer project, capturing a moment from our vacation, a walk through the fields.

Mixed media, stencils, stamping and gesso on kraft is definitely my style , or at least one of them ;) so for the first time I'm playing at Kraft it up challenge 'Your style'

I really like this technique, combining gesso and watercolours. I'm using heavy weight kraft cardstock which allows to apply generous amounts of media , play with water, dry with the heat tool - all that without deforming. The prime layer of gesso allows to control the colours of water paints, which I'm applying with wet brush or fingers and spraying with water. Wet paint can be cleaned with water and paper towel leaving hardly a trace on gesso, if it comes out wrongly ;)

I've made a small project inspired by the summer photo.
It's kind of art journal page. I'm brand new to this whole artjournaling business , more of an apprentice so far - so I've just been playing, trying it out ;)
I got this lovely, plain craft album, it's just perfect for this purpose, an easygoing, relaxed, messy mixedmedia scrapping just for fun.

This is what inspires us this month:

I picked the summer season from the photo collage, I like the vintage colouring and how the dark colours define the shapes.
Recently I got addicted to photo apps so I'm constantly playing with my phone , editing one photo after another ;) here's one of my quick nature shots.

Dzis bedzie primowo bo zbliza sie koniec sierpnia czyli termin zglaszania prac na sierpniowe wyzwania prima. Ja zmierzylam sie z mapka BAP

Prima Prima all over this post, as it is a high time to submit my layout for Prima's BAP for August.

Mapka naprawde intrygujaca, nietypowa - odtworzylam ja laczac 2 rozne arkusze z kolekcji Lifetime.
Do warstw pod zdjeciem uzylam skrawkow co najmniej kilku innych kolekcji (Sunrise sunset, Engraver, Lifetime ) . Nie moglo tez zabraknac Primowej maski i stempli oraz gesso i kilku ozywiajacych, kontrastowych plamek akwareli.

The sketch is unusual, intriquing - to create the main areas I combined 2 different papers from Lifetime collection. I also used scraps of few other papers to create the monochromatic layering under the photo. Finishing touches - masking and stamping along with some gesso and contrasting stains.

Amazing day - Allt om Scrap inspiration

Hello friends!
Allt om scrap has just revealed an inspirational theme for this week - we are celebrating late summer, with warm, vibrant colours and pom-poms :)

My inspiration was taken from the colours of the photo and I imitated the flowers garlands with the stamped flowers and pen doodling.
Here she goes to the daycare, first time after the summer break.

Flowers blooming on the cards

Dzis dla odmiany wpadam z para kartek :)  Niedawno w moje lapki wpadly nietypowe bazy kartkowe z Papierowej Galanterii.
Bazy sa w formacie DL ktory uwielbiam, natomiast sa zginane na krotkim brzegu czyli poziome. Swietnie nadaja sie np do eleganckich zaproszen, ale rowniez i kartek - z tym formatem mozna pozwolic sobie na nieco bogatsza kompozycje, lub duze kwiaty ;)
A sama baza ma dyskretny kolor ecru i swietnie wspolgra z roznymi kolekcjami papierow- tutaj akurat polaczylam go z wycinankami z malego padu 9th Wave 7 DS.

Today I'm sharing some cards, for a change:)
Recently I got a chance to work with the new card bases from Papierowa Galanteria and I found this particular size very inspiring. It's a DL but folded on a short edge, rather unusual but so much fun to play with! I guess you would normally use it for an elegant invitation or something similar, but why not make a generous card ;)
This format really  allows a rich compisition or large flowers, no problem to fit at all ;)
The base itself has a beautiful, subtle ecru tone, easy to match with basically any collection. Here I used 9th Wave from 7 Dots Studio.

 

 

Papier bazowy jest tak ciekawy i ozdobny, ze sam w sobie jest bardzo dekoracyjnym elementem - uzylam go tworzac 2 dodatkowe warstwy kartki, jedna embossowana na zimno folderem, a druga zupelnie gladka.
The  elegant beauty of this eco cardstock makes it so versatile - I have used it to make 3 layers of this card, where the middle one is embossed, while the bottom and the top one- plain, just torn.

Z kartka numer 2 pracowalam odwrotnie - jako tla uzylam kawalkow papieru scrapowego Prima, a kwiaty wycielam z kartonu eco i pomalowalam akwarelami.
With card no 2 I went the opposite way - layers of the scrapbook paper and flowers and plain cardstock, only painted with the watercolours.

A tak wygladaja bazy, ktore goraco Wam polecam!

Witajcie Kochani!
Po wakacjach nie moge jakos zlapac rytmu, po prostu nie wyrabiam na zakretach ;) Tez tak macie???

Znow wpadam szybko, z jedna z prac, ktora przygotowalam dla magazynu internetowego Allt om scrap, z ktorym od tego miesiaca mam przyjemnosc wspolpracowac jako jedna z  DT.
Dzis ukazal sie artykul o kole barw i nasze prace ilustruja jak uzywac w pracach barw dopelniajacych, czyli tych ktore leza po przeciwnych stronach kola. Choc akurat z tego artykulu skorzystaja najbardziej osoby znajace jezyk szwedzki, to zabawe z kolorami polecam wszystkim :)

Oto jedna z prac, ktore przygotowalam. Odwazny kolorystycznie layout, ze zdjeciem ze spaceru oraz cytatem z piosenki A. McBroom, na ktory zwrocilam uwage podziwiajac moodboard Maja Design ;)
Z tym zdjeciem wybor barw byl oczywiscie latwy ;)

Popping in today to share one of the projects I prepared for a swedish web magazine Allt om scrap - as you might have noticed, as of this month I have a pleasure to be a member of AoS DT.
In today's article we are sharing some basics about the color wheel. Our works are showing how to use the complementary colors ie. the ones located on the opposite sides of the wheel.

Here is one of the works I made playing with this theory: a layout with a snapshot from the park and a quote from A. McBroom's song , which actually caught my eye when I was watching the gorgeous Maja Design moodboard ;)
With this photo, the color choice was easy ;)

Scrap Around The World - August mood board

Hello again!

Time for the next reveal from Scrap Around the World!

My fellow designer Eila Sandberg is the author of the board and we will be playing with an unusual sketch from our resident sketch designer Jules McKenna-De Lumen

EXAMPLES OF HOW THE MOOD BOARD CAN INSPIRE YOU!

 

1.  You could be inspired by THE COLOURS - some of them, all of them, or one of them!

2.  You can use ANY colours & DO NOT need to follow the colours of the mood board at all
 if you are inspired by SOMETHING ELSE on the board instead.

3.  You can be inspired by any of the images, some of the images or all of them!

For example:-  you could use - Ruffles, chain, bling, rhinestones, clear dots, pearls, gold, glitter, hearts, metal embellishments, bows, silver, metallics, antique-inspired embellishments, jewelled clusters, leaves, feathers, 
berries, vines, twigs, twine, stickpins, flowers, ribbons, crochet, misting, confetti, sprinkles, gesso, vellum 
or ANYTHING ELSE that springs to mind for you when you look at the mood board.

REMEMBER TO TELL US WHAT INSPIRED YOU UNLESS IT IS OBVIOUS :)

How to use our sketches

Use our sketch as your staring point as we would like to see that it definitely inspired you!
  Feel free to 'make it your own' by flipping it, turning it, inverting it & moving things about if you like but  
PLEASE DO NOT DEPART FROM IT ENTIRELY!  
You can also change the photo orientation & number of photos to be as few or as many as you like.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO!

1.   Be inspired by ANY ASPECT of our mood board 

(this could be just ONE aspect, many aspects or EVERY aspect!)  

Let us know what inspired you unless it is obvious!

AND

2.  Use our sketch as your starting point 

(We need to SEE that you started off with our sketch - 

no need to follow it entirely but please it needs to be visible in your layout).

3.  Both the sketch & mood board images OR THE COMBO IMAGE OF BOTH MUST appear in your challenge entry.

4.  You must mention in your post that you are playing along at Scrap Around The World & link back to us.

5.  Link us please to YOUR BLOG POST NOT your entire blog.

6.   Turn off your word-verification if you would like some of our Design Team members to comment on your entry.

7. Please check our RULES OF PLAY HERE before you begin your entry!

I had a great time playing with this board and the sketch. I picked the colours of the left corner photo to set the colour scheme of my page. The feathers inspired me to choose some light, airy embellishments & 'ghost stamping '. The hair band in the 2nd photo reminded me of filigree doilies so I used them to represent the circle patterns of the sketch.

My first project as a part of  DT Allt om Scrap is a layout based on our  August challenge - a sketch by Amy Prior
I used a craft cardstock, generous amounts of gesso, doilies and lace to frame my favourite photos of this spring :)
The title (in Polish) means 'See the beauty'
